What are face masks?
Usually face masks are divided according to their effect. There are mask types:
- nourishes, moisturizes, tones and cleanses - they are designed for constant skin care and maintenance in perfect condition;
- anti-inflammatory, whitening, anti-couperosis - this group of masks successfully fights obvious skin imperfections;
- anti-aging, lifting masks - belong to the anti-aging group and help to tighten facial skin.
How to determine your skin type
Before choosing a face mask, you need to determine your skin type. In classical cosmetology, it is common to distinguish between skin types:

Because different skin needs vary greatly, you need to choose a home face mask depending on the type of skin you have.
This is usually not a problem, as girls are usually attentive to their appearance, and skin type can be easily determined even by looking at themselves in the mirror. However, sometimes difficulties arise. Therefore, to accurately determine the type of skin at home, wash your face with ordinary neutral soap and do not apply any products on it.
After about an hour and a half, place a well-absorbent paper towel tightly on your face. Look carefully at the napkin and assess the degree of oily skin:
- If there are traces of sebum on the entire surface of the wipe, it means that the skin is completely loose and you have oily skin type.
- If there are no traces left on the napkin, but the skin does not peel and feel tight, your skin type is normal.
- If there are no greasy marks on the napkin, but you feel obvious tension, then your skin is dry.
- If the center of the wipe is printed in bold on the forehead, nose and chin, and the skin has not left a trace (dry or normal) on the cheek and temple area, this uneven distribution of fat indicates a combined or mixed skin type.
